As we approach the end of the year, it’s crucial to stay on top of both your tax obligations and any government assistance payments you may be receiving. We’ve compiled a comprehensive guide to help you navigate through upcoming tax deadlines and changes to payment schedules.
5 December
PAYE – Large employers payments due for deductions made 16 to 30 November. File employment information within two working days after payday.
20 December
PAYE – Payment due for small employers for November. Payment due for large employers for deductions made 1 to 15 December. File employment information within two working days after payday.
RWT – RWT return and payment due for deductions from dividends and deductions of $500 or more from interest paid during November.
15 January
GST – Payment and return for November.
Provisional Tax – Instalment due.
PAYE – Large employers payments due for deductions made 16 to 31 December. File employment information within two working days after payday.
22 January
FBT – FBT return and payment due for 31 December 2023 quarter.
RWT – RWT return and payment due for deductions from dividends and deductions of $500 or more from interest paid during December.
PAYE – Payment due for small employers for December. Payment due for large employers for deductions made 1 to 15 January. File employment information within two working days after payday.
29 January
GST – Payment and return for December.
Note: the provisional tax due dates apply to those clients who have a March balance date. Different dates will apply for those clients who have different balance dates.
Make sure to plan for your tax obligations in your monthly cash flow forecasting. Both November and December GST are due for payment in January as well as provisional tax. If you are concerned you may not be able to pay the tax due, please let us know and let’s look at your options.
Working for Families and Paid Parental Leave over the Holidays
Do you get Working for Families or paid parental leave payments?
During the end-of-year holiday period, you’ll get your payments early when payment dates fall on a public holiday.
Working for Families Payments: December and January
Weekly or fortnightly Working for Families payments expected on Tuesday 26 December or Wednesday 27 December will be paid early.
You’ll get your payment on Friday 22 December or Saturday 23 December, depending on when your bank processes your payments.
If you get weekly payments, this means you’ll be paid twice in the week before Christmas.
The next weekly Working for Families payment will also be made early.
The payment you’d expect on Tuesday 2 January or Wednesday 3 January will be paid on Friday 29 December or Saturday 30 December, depending on when your bank processes your payments.
NOTE: The next scheduled weekly and fortnightly Working for Families payments will be made as normal on Tuesday 9 January 2024. No payments will be made the week of 2 January.
Paid parental leave payments
Paid parental leave payments expected on Tuesday 2 January or Wednesday 3 January will be paid early.
You’ll get your payment on Friday 29 December or Saturday 30 December, depending on when your bank processes your payments.
NOTE: The next scheduled paid parental leave payment will be made as normal on Tuesday 16 January or Wednesday 17 January.
